Obscure.org is down for emergency maintenance
It looks like the main drive on the old obscure.org server is finally giving up the ghost. The good news is we have new hardware to replace it. The bad news is that to take advantage of it, I have to finish the operating system rebuild I started recently.

Please expect that Obscure will probably be down until at least noon on Sunday.

You'll put out a call for extra funding from obscure members if you need it, right?

Of course!

There's no funding emergency, all this hardware is already paid for, fortunately.

Ahh... I was wondering what was going on.

If it makes you feel any better (and I'm sure it don't, but hey at least I tried), I can totally empathize as right now I'm doing an emergency recovery on our downstairs machine (my old laptop) right after losing my user account on the server yesterday.

It's been a weekend of sad fubars.

I hear you on the weekend of sad fubars. How'd you lose your user account on the server?

It overwrote the permissions on my account when I did the Safari security update.
